About us
We're two Norwegian teachers focused on one thing: helping you move beyond textbook Norwegian and become confident using the language in real life.
Morten is from Haugesund on the west coast of Norway and has always had a strong curiosity about people, culture, and language. After several years working as a psychiatric nurse, he decided to take an old interest in a new direction and began studying Korean.
Through his own experience as a language learner, Morten discovered how rewarding it can be to learn a new language – and how important it is to have a teacher who creates a safe, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable trying, making mistakes, and improving. This inspired him to start teaching Norwegian himself.
Today, he combines his experience working with people with his passion for language to help students become more confident and natural Norwegian speakers. For Morten, it is especially rewarding to share the Norwegian language and culture with people from all over the world.
When he is not teaching, you will often find him playing guitar or following football – two passions that have stayed with him since his teenage years.
Magnus’s journey as a teacher began with his own experience of learning how to learn. Growing up, he was far more interested in skateboarding than school, and it was only through years of personal growth in his twenties that he discovered how powerful the right mindset, guidance, and learning methods can be.
That experience sparked a passion for helping others become more confident and effective learners. Before teaching Norwegian, Magnus taught hundreds of guitar students, gaining extensive experience in explaining complex skills in a clear, practical, and encouraging way.
After completing his training as a Norwegian teacher, he went on to teach at an online language school, where he gained firsthand experience helping international students improve their Norwegian. He later founded Norwegian Speaking Lessons (NSL) with the goal of creating a more personal, practical, and supportive way for students to learn Norwegian and become confident speakers.
Our philosophy
We want to introduce a set of relaxed and comfortable parameters within which you can learn, develop, and thrive in the company of like-minded and inspiring individuals. Our teaching method seeks to give you the tools to speak your way and be your own boss of the language learning. Instead of being forced into homework, we strive to make the student take charge of wanting to learn more. Whenever the student needs guidance, we will be there to follow up on every inquiry. We supply a well-rounded offer of conversational lessons, grammar lessons, and beginner lessons. Lastly, we want to make sure the student stays committed and motivated. Our schedule is therefore designed to offer lessons several days of the week so that the student can make appointments that are in tune with their daily life.
